The Mark Waypoint Page
The Mark Waypoint Page allows you to mark and record your current
(or any other) location as a waypoint and displays name for that waypoint
and a waypoint symbol. You can mark your current location at any time.To mark your current location as a waypoint:1.Press in and hold the ENTER key to view the Mark Waypoint
Page. 2.To change the name of the waypoint, use the ROCKERkey to
highlight the waypoint name ﬁ eld and press ENTERto display the
on-screen keypad. Use the ROCKERkey and ENTERkey to select
a name for the waypoint. If you choose a name that has already been used, a “Waypoint Already Exists” message appears.
3. To assign an identifying symbol to a waypoint, use the
ROCKERkey to highlight the symbol block next to the
waypoint name and press ENTERto display the Symbols Chart.
4. To save the waypoint to the Find Menu Waypoints List, high-
light “OK” and press ENTER.
5. If you do not want to save it as a new waypoint, press the
QUITbutton to cancel.
Custom Waypoint SymbolsAt the bottom of the Waypoint Symbols Chart is a group of custom
waypoint symbols that can be assigned a unique design. Access the
Garmin website http://www.garmin.com/ximage to download the xImage
transfer program. From there, the xImage help ﬁ les provide instructions
for customizing waypoints and downloading screen shots from your unit.

To create a waypoint using the Map Panning Arrow:1. With the Map Page displayed, move the panning arrow (map
pointer) to the map item you want use as a waypoint. If there
is information in the mapping database for that location it
highlights momentarily and display a name or address.
2. Press ENTERto display the item information page. With the
Waypoint Information Page displayed, highlight the “Save”
button at the bottom of the page and then press ENTERto
save it to the Find Menu Waypoints List.
If the map selected does not contain any information, a mes-
sage appears, stating “No map information at this point. Do
you want to create a user waypoint here?”. Select “Yes” and
pressENTER to display a new waypoint page.
Averaging a Waypoint LocationA waypoint location can be averaged over time for more accuracy, but
only while the GPS has a fix on the location and before saving it.To average a Waypoint Location using measurements over time:1. With the “New Waypoint” information page displayed, high-
light the on-screen “Avg” button and press ENTERto average.
3. Select “Average Location” and press ENTERto display the
Average location Page. It begins to average automatically.
4. Highlight the “Save” button and press ENTERwhen desired.

Editing a Waypoint
A waypoint can be selected from the Find Feature Waypoints list and
edited to change the map symbol, name, location coordinates, elevation
or to delete it. Refer to page 21 for details on using the Find Feature.To edit a Waypoint:1. Use the Find Feature to display the desired waypoint informa-

To move a Waypoint on the Map Page:1. Use the Find Feature to display the Information Page for the
desired waypoint (refer to page 23).
2. Highlight the “Map” button at the bottom of the page and
pressENTERto display the waypoint on the map.

Projecting a Waypoint
Projecting a waypoint from any map item (another waypoint, etc.)
allows you to establish a new waypoint that is a certain bearing and
distance away from that map item.To project a waypoint:1. Select an item from the Find Menu and display the Information

Using the Find Menu
The Find Feature provides you with a method for searching for
Cities and Exits which are included in the eTrex Legend C basemaps. If
you have downloaded Garmin MapSource mapping data that contains
additional map detail, you can search for Points of Interest, Addresses and
Intersections. If you download BlueChart
® data,* you can ﬁ nd detailed
Marine items such as Wrecks and Obstructions, NAVAIDS, and Anchor-
ages. If this additional data is not loaded, these options are not available.
Waypoints and Geocache Points are items you can create and add to the

separated into groups, which are shown as icons on the Find Menu Page.• When you access a Find group list, by default it contains only
items near your current location or the Panning Arrow (if active).
• To save effort in searching again for an item already found, you can
use the “Recent Finds” group, which contains a list of 50 last found
items of all categories. The options menu for each map item group offers its own unique
search options such as “Find By Name,” “Find Nearest,” “Select Symbol”
(for Waypoints), “Change Reference” (by moving the map Panning Arrow
to a new location), “Nearest Containing” (a key word you enter) and “Select
Category” (for those groups such as Food and Drink, Lodging, etc.). Using
