DATA MANAGEMENT, LIBRARY AND MY COLLECTION Figure 0.0.40: Overview Map
With the General Map you can easily move the entire map.
If it takes up the entire window it is because you maximize it. To reverse this, double-
click on the upper edge of the General Map. With a mouse handle into the edge you can
shift it or change the size. I always have the General Map on the top right or bottom
left. Changes the Data with the Map Window
With the Drop Down Box the Map Products are
And with the level of details are set.
I usually leave t his setting to Medium or High, otherwise the map will be confusing.
In addition, the screen layout when zooming or by displacing may move too slowly
(depending on the performance of the computer). My map usually looks like this:

THE DATA WINDOW
The Data Window
Underneath the library you can nd the data window with the elements like waypoints,
routes, tracks, BirdsEye images, CustomMaps, Geocaches, and Geotagged or Georefer-
At the bottom is a small data window in the search eld to nd items.
When entering a letter, a list with all elements starting with this letter pops up. With
the "or# keys or the mouse you can select the right element.
Clicking onto the blue funnel shows the lters. The number next to it shows how many
data of this type are in the list. When you click on an icon only the respective elements
in the list will be shown. Figure 0.0.41: The search box for items

To select several data sets there are dierent options. By holding >Shift< + mouse

from the list hold >Ctrl< + mouse click. You can also take the WP with the mouse and drag directly into an existing route.
To the right of the search box you can nd the icons for all items and for Waypoints,
Routes... Behind them count is listed in the active list. Clicking onto an icon shows only

Navigation in the Map Window
Zooming works great with the scroll wheel of the mouse but you have to click onto
the map rst to activate it. Otherwise you will scroll something else. The map will be
zoomed towards the mouse pointer. Another option for zooming are the + and keys
on your PC.
When moving the mouse pointer (no matter which tool is active) towards the edge of

the map window it turns into an arrow that allows you to move the map; the arrow keys
on your keyboard will do the same.
Even with the controls you can have another view, I nd it rather awkward. The four
arrows move the map, a rotation on the compass rose rotates the map. With the slider
you can zoom. Click + or - makes a step, moving the arrow is good for larger size jumps.
To rearrange the map when it is turned simply double click on "N". You can also arrange
it towards the three other direction in the same way. Figure 0.0.45: Map Controls
To switch between the data and map windows click onto the small arrows on the
dividing line. It is even simpler with the keyboard shortcut >Ctrl+Tab<.
By picking up the dividing line between the library and the map you can change the
width of the sidebar.
The symbol makes the switch between dierent routing options
easier. They can be adjusted for car, motorbike, bicycle etc. At the very bottom you
have the option to change activity proles.
With a track or route on the map can
be played back quite amusing.
The triangle starts the play back, square stops it, the slide control shows the position or
can be used to go to a dierent position of the activated element. If the arrow is
activated play back will be repeated.
In this toolbar you can see detailed information of the track or route.
